Mo Tide? — a camera dictionary of the Mari language
Point the camera at an object: the app recognises it and shows the word in Meadow Mari, the Russian translation with stress and a dictionary definition. Works offline.
Features
- Hundreds of objects: people and facial features, animals and birds, dishes, furniture, clothes, vehicles, fruit and vegetables, trees, sky, grass, water
- Up to 8 objects in one photo, numbered right on the objects; tap a number or a word to highlight the outline
- Live mode: labels appear on objects right in the viewfinder; you can also pick a photo from the gallery
- Word, stress, translation and definition from the 10-volume Dictionary of the Mari Language (MarNIIYaLI)
- Save and share the labelled picture; in the gallery it is in the “Мо тиде” folder
- Offline: recognition runs on the phone and photos are never uploaded

- Words missing there come from the FU-Lab online dictionaries and Wiktionary; they are marked with ⚠ and await review
- Literary Meadow Mari only, no dialect or colloquial entries
Recognition can make mistakes, so double-check translations. The app shows Yandex Advertising Network ads (banner and interstitial). Privacy policy.
How to use
Open the app and tap “Take photo” (“Снять фото”), or pick a picture from the gallery. A second later numbers appear on the objects and a list of words appears below. Tap a word to see its translation and definition; “Save” puts the labelled picture into the gallery and “Share” sends it to friends. In live mode the labels appear right in the viewfinder.
